When entered, a motion detector activate the security lights
from both front and back of the viewer.
空間に人が入ると、センサーが稼働して、
防犯ライトがつき、前方・後方より照らされる。
Head height copper lines obstruct people from freely moving about.
The lights cross over and create grid-pattern shadow on the walls.
頭の高さに張られた銅線が人の自由な動きを妨げる。
両サイドからの照明が、側面の壁に格子状の影をつくる。
After a certain moment without movement, the lights go off within a minute,
and leave the viewer in total darkness.
センサーが動きを察知しなければ、約1分後に照明が消え、暗闇となる。
As eyes get used to the darkness and regain the sight,
thousands of lines gradually begin to grow all over the floor surface.
暗闇に目が慣れると同時に、床を覆い尽くす線が、徐々に発光し現れる。

My work is not about a slug, but I am inspired by its being
and its relation to a human being.
Slug is an omnipresent unknown animal.
It is an animal relatively close to our daily lives
but its true nature is not widely known.
Escaping from all kinds of gaze, restrictions
or a control, its living presence gives me a shiver,
just like when you find a small but esoteric universe of life
wriggling under a flowerpot in your garden,
full of energy.
ナメクジは、どこにでもいる得体の知れない存在、である。
日々の生活環境に出没し、比較的身近な存在でありながら、
生き物としての正体は、ほとんど知られていない。
(例えばナメクジが、陸に住む巻貝の仲間だということ。)
様々な管理や制限、視線から逃れながら隙間を這い
密やかに、そしてしたたかに在り続ける姿に、
その異質な存在感に畏れを感じ、引込まれた。
それは自宅の庭で、植木鉢の下にうごめく小宇宙を
不意に見てしまった時のような。。。
