Aeroscape incorporates a complex mirrored projection onto the convex inner surface
of a semi-sphere that is intended to mimic the spectacle of a planetarium.
The projected footage is of the lights of a city viewed from a descending aeroplane.
The projection screen is suspended above head height so it is necessary for
the viewer to tilt the head, at the same time it becomes necessary once the origin of
the imagery is deciphered, to imaginatively invert it. The kind of physical
and intellectual engagement is a significant element of the work.
夜間飛行の際に上空から撮影した街の灯りを、頭上に設置したドーム型スクリーン
の内側に鏡を用いて投影。四方に設置したスピーカーからは、航空機の旋回音を
サラウンドで再生。通常、上空より見下ろす風景を頭上に見上げることにより、
次第に身体が引力の軸から逃れ、天地の認識が流動的になり、地上と宇宙の境界が
溶け合っていく。観客の想像力と身体的な関わりは、作品の重要な要素である。
