Inspired by a vacant land exists in between two commercial buildings that suddenly
appeared as a result of ongoing urban gentrification. The demolition of building
exposed physical remains of a classic style of wooden house existed in the land
sometime in history, stuck on walls on both side of the land. The entire remains on
the walls were virtually transfered in life scale onto interior surface of the other building
from the same period. It is intended to address the fluctuation between representation
and documentation, as well as dislocation and relocation of spatial and layered history
in urban context. At last, the walls with transfered imagery were then covered in paint
to be a new layer of the history.
福岡都心、通いなれた道の傍ら、商業ビルの一角が取り壊され、更地を囲むビルの壁面に、
残っていた木造家屋の痕跡が露になった。整然と並ぶ商業ビルの無機質な外壁に現れた
それは、貼り付いた肉片のようでもありまた、染みだした血痕のようでもあり、そこに
躍動し蓄積する場の有機性があった。木造家屋と同年代の長屋を利用した展示空間の
壁面に、痕跡を画像で実物大に転写し、屋内空間に屋外の空地を出現させた。
日中は透明な膜のような転写用紙の素材感が強調され、場に皮膚のような層の
質感を与え、夜間は限られた光源の中で、既存の空間と一体化する。商業ビル壁面に
写り込む歩行者や車の流れる影を撮影した素材をもとに映像を作成し、屋内空間を
隔てる既存の窓枠に背後より投影。屋内に窓越しの屋外を想起させた。展示期間終了後、
転写した壁面を再度覆うように塗装し、まっさらな白壁に戻した。視覚的には
不可視だが、新たな地層として、長屋の歴史とともに存続していく。
